Gratin Dauphinois

Very typical French accompaniment that you can eat with a red or white meat. In my family we always eat it during Christmas it’s a tradition. Hope you’ll like it !

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg of potatoes
  • 2 garlic gloves
  • 30 cl of crème
  • 100 g of butter
  • 1 l of milk
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Step 1: Peel, wash and cut the potatoes into thin slices (NB: do not wash them AFTER cutting them, because the starch is necessary at a correct consistency).

Step 2: Chop the garlic very finely.

Step 3: Bring the milk, garlic, salt, pepper and nutmeg to a boil, then dip in the potatoes and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on how firm they are.

Step 4: Preheat oven to 180 ° C (thermostat 6) and butter a baking dish.

Step 5: Place the drained potatoes in the dish. Cover them with cream, then arrange the butter on top. Step 6 Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour of cooking.

Enjoy !

Julie
