Hi everyone ! Today we talk about a wonderful region of Spain: Catalonia.

Catalonia is a more than perfect option for the multitude of tourists that visit it. It have 754 kilometers of coastline to practice sports or enjoy the sun, a rich artistic, cultural and natural heritage and an internationally recognized gastronomy.

Catalans eat four times a day. Sometimes five. According to the standard; Breakfast, lunch, lunch, snack and dinner.

Breakfast
The first typical Catalan meal of the day is often just a pasta or pastries and a drink like coffee or a glass of milk with Colacao for children.

Lunch
It’s usually eaten between 10:30 and 11:30. The usual is a sandwich or a toasted baguette with tomato and ham. Accompanied with coffee with milk or a single coffee.

Food
Catalans leave the working day and devote up to two hours to a convincing meal. This leads to the fact that, although the time of entry into the office is the same as in other countries, it leaves later and the time to devote to family, leisure, and domestic chores is reduced. They usually serve around 2 p.m. or even later. This is the biggest meal of the day, often with multiple dishes. In restaurants they have the option of preparing cheap menus with two dishes, “Menu of the day”. These usually consist of a starter, drink, then an entree and possibly coffee or dessert.

Snack
This meal could be considered as tea time or a break for children who have just left school around 5 p.m. It’s usually more bread: a small sandwich, a pastry candy or some cookies.

Dinner
Finally, the last meal of the day arrives around 9:00 p.m. or later. It’s usually lighter compared to food. There are different types of dinners.

The gastronomic wealth of Catalonia relates the sea and the mountain. This is a completely Mediterranean cuisine, simple, varied, and where the product is the main protagonist. The geography of Catalonia, as well as its history, have favored that gastronomy has evolved, although it can be said that philosophy remains the same as it was centuries ago; “If the product is good, the dish will be delicious”. All the dishes are based on seasonal products and thanks to their diversity you can make very healthy dishes; with vegetables, meat or fish. If you want to try these delicacies, escape and dare to know Catalonia.

Catalonia is a territory of sea, mountain, traditions and innovation, and is very rich in high-quality local products.

Catalan cuisine has been mixing meats with fish, or birds with fruits and is the result of a Greek and Roman cultural heritage influenced by migratory currents such as Italian cuisine and French cuisine.

In Catalonia they grow the products and later add them to the dishes. It has become a fusion cuisine, which has resulted in varied and quality recipes that reflect its cultural environment.
